This is just a quick update about some things that I wanted to share (before I disappear again for 2-3 months?)
Sanji arc is one hype ride to say the least and I often caught myself being kept on the edge of the seat, waiting in anticipation what the next chapter would bring.
So far, there were only some chapters that I didn't quite enjoy (because it was a bit dragging) but in comparison with the last arc, I really cannot have complaints xD
Things I am going to talk about:
- Current arc - Sanji and his relationship with Germa
- Big Mom and her plans
- The Straw Hats
I was contemplating about including some pictures, but.. eh, this is supposed to be a quick review :D *still feels it will be long again*
Also, excuse me if I'm not be utterly correct, I don't really have enough time like before to analyse everything thoroughly. Just take this one as a quick, light review that I pulled out from my... ehm, memory.
1. Current arc - Sanji and his relationship with Germa
From the last time I left off... It was still somewhere at the beginning of the arc, wasn't it? For people who love Sanji (myself included), this arc hits quite heavily in the feels and I must admit that Oda mildly and also wildly amazed me with his writing skills.
Most people already anticipated that Sanji's past wasn't entirely pleasant, some were even almost correct in guessing that he was a prince or that his mother had some influence on him. Some theories that he has at least two older siblings (ichi = 1, ni = 2, san = 3, capishe?) circulated around, too. Kudos to these analysers, to be honest.
Sanji's family is wicked, maybe the most wicked out of all the ones of the SHs we came across. It's even worse so that Sanji still has to deal with them in the present. But you know what? Sanji could act tought and hate them all he wants, in the end he still doesn't have the heart to let them die. And that is a trait worth admiration and respect. No matter how much shit one gets in life, one shouldn't wish for other people to die (well, whether they deserve to live or not is another question and a discussion for another time;...even some people are not beyond salvation).
So far, there was nothing else worth noting about Germa, aside from the fact they thirst for power and nothing else. Something like machos without brain but still with too much brain (that much that they are unable to feel any kind emotions).
Sanji's brothers and dad are all pretty much the same when it comes to this, even their characters are not anything too new. Maybe Oda should have made them more distinctive, because I honestly have no idea who is e.g. Ichiji and who Niji (if I didn't see the numbers displayed on them somewhere). Unless Oda made this on purpose, to make them appear like "uniforms", being almost the same machos striving for power.
I would love to see more of Germa's inventions, no doubt some of them will appear quite soon enough. I mean hello? soon, Mama's plans will leak out or they will realize sooner or later that they are being targetted (be that sooner, please. As much as I hate them for all the shit they did to Sanji, I still want to see them in action and witness their abilities, what made them so fearful that it was almost taboo to say their name).
Yoonji's reaction to Nami was quite funny. Like brother, like brother.
Now, my mind is a bit hazy about Sanji's mom but if I am not wrong, she was sick and Sanji was the only child who even thought of bringing her food, the only one who was not somehow "mutated". She really was the one of the few people from his childhood to understand and love him thoroughly. I am not sure if she realized it, but Reiju was not as mutated as their other brothers, so I hope the mother and daughter had some moments with each other, too. Otherwise it's just too sad to see that out of five children, only one had some emotions in them.
Speaking about Reiju, truly a wonderful and strong-headed woman. You know, for some people it's easy to either speak out loud or to pretend that they didn't see anything wrong. But I think it's much more difficult to pretend that nothing is wrong and secretly helping the other side that is being bullied in a way that they wouldn't be dragged in the bullying, too. For a young girl at that time, Sanji's sister risked a lot when she helped her brother to escape. Even now that they met again, it's clear Reiju is still on Sanji's side. Sure, one can argue that she should have stood up for him when they were younger... but hey, if she did so, she would end up in the same position as Sanji and would never be able to help her brother out. And, some part of me also tells me that she is some kind of a "both" - she has emotions like Sanji, but she also strives for power like the rest of their siblings. So, if some reforms in Germa were ever to take place, only she would be able to lead the reformed organisation. Though from what she said, it looks like she wants the organisation to die out..
I honestly wish she would either become Straw Hat crew's ally or join them after this arc, it's not so impossible since she is more on Sanji's side anyway. Something tells me that she will just become SH's ally and lead Germa to something better. Not sure what would happen to the rest of the family though. That, or she would flee with them. But given her mindset in the present time, I don't know if she would have enough resolve to still be with her father and brothers and continue doing evil acts.
Back to Sanji... I am glad he found an ally in Reiju. However, it quite (read: A LOT) pains me that he doesn't clearly see her as one, because in some chapters back, he refered to Pudding as the only one who was his ray of hope. That time, my mind screamed at that idiot, asking him "but what about your sister??". Yeah. Sisters sometimes don't get the recognition they deserve (jk, I am pretty sure Sanji loves his sister and started trusting her more after he witnessed what happened to her).
2. Big Mom and her plans
Big Mom is big....yeah... the thing that aggravates me about her is not her actual size (hey, it's her business, not mine or anybody else's), but the size of her ego. Or so to say. Brilliant ideas she has, but with the typical "I am always right and will do anything to achieve it" attitude. Yeah. Germa is really gonna get killed.
Honestly, she is more of a big kid that starts whining once she doesn't get her favourite candy (Oda, are you doing this on purpose? Her personality is quite opposite of what one might have expected).
Nothing else to comment, I guess. I mean, she probably doesn't have that big of ambitions to reach Raftel anyway (maybe she is afraid of the unknown big world? just like....you know.... children? I don't hate her or anything, but I feel like pestering her a bit because... she acts quite spoiled tbh).
Germa is just like toys in her hands. No hard feelings. I am quite surprised to hear that Big Mom has no place for Lola... Lola clearly showed a lot of admiration for her mother and even thought she would help the SHs if they ever ran in trouble. Who would have guessed that that would never be the case *sarcasm*.
Aaaanyway, still waiting for the Lola - Nami reunion.
Yep, she desrves her own segment. Ok, I must say she really threw me out when she showed her third side. Pudding, the sweet sweet Pudding Sanji wanted to marry. And then, Pudding, the poisonous poisonous jelly blob that apparently wants to kill Sanji.
Her character is a bit perplexing. She is an actress with every fiber and bone in her body, no doubt about that. The question is, how much of that was even acting and what was her true self? I loved the idea of her joining the SH crew since she had a dream of her own. Untiiiil she threatened my bae Reiju. Back of, chocolate Pudding, or I am going to eat you alive.
The thing with actors is, they can be so many-faced that it's hard to really make out what is acting and what isn't anymore. I bet some of them sometimes don't even realize it themselves whether they are acting or not. Oda carried out the twist with her so well, it made me asking a lot of questions. Many people seem to really hate her now and I don't want to be the naive little punk who would be all "but what if she is just acting like she wants to kill Sanji?" Hell naw.
There are some things that are kind of hazy for me. Like
1) why promise Luffy that she would bring Sanji to a coast?
2) help the crew get so close to the wedding ceremony? I am pretty certain that Big Mom wouldn't want any more disturbance. Yes, she anticipated Luffy, but that doesn't mean she welcomed him with open arms and let him sail through so deep into her teritorry (yep... this sounds a bit weird... heck, imma not gonna edit it).
3) what's her relationship with Lola, is she really fond of her sister or was she acting at that time, too?
4) why was she crying when she left the cell Luffy and Nami were kept in after announcing that she will kill Sanji? For the drama effect? Or were they tears of laughter? Somehow, it still doesn't sit too well in the picture.
5) whyyy mention her dream that I find so goddamn... yummy?
Ok the last point is not that valid (unless she really meant it), but you get the picture. I really want to shove her once in the ribs for letting Sanji witness the momment with Reiju... then again, it's way too convenient that Sanji saw it at that time and it made him realize what he really wanted. Way tooooo convenient.
The ultimate question is, does she have another objective in mind we have yet to see?
Oh, and I read her third eye is something based on a creature from mythology... something like these creatures lured their preys with their false outlook.. nevermind. I still want to see her abilities.
4. The Straw Hats
Luffy's fight with Big Mom's commanders dragged out wayyy tooo much. Period. Oh, and I love his resolve, he sure knows Sanji. The last chapter when he looked all weak and like he aged years waiting for Sanji broke my heart.
I am getting tired so there is nothing much I can think of now.
As for Nami, love her new outlook. It was a time for change. She sure looks like she came to the Alice in Wonderland world. I also saw her new Climatact in anime, the orange colour is really pretty ^^ so far, she hasn't used the new features much, so I will be anticipating it.
Bropper and his interactions with Carrot were hilarious, I am glad he is back but.. I still feel something missing, maybe because the story didn't center around him and Carrot that much after they went into the mirror world.
Good ole Brook, I knew his abilities and those of Mama would crash, though I had a tiny hope he would be the one emerging victorious in the battle of power. He definitely won in the power of wits though, got that good rubbing of Poneglyph ^^ good thing they rescued him TT.TT and I am glad the feline cat fellow made it out alive and didn't die in that time of bombing.
wRECK THE WEDDING, WIPE THOSE SMIRKS OFF THE BIG MOM'S AND GERMA'S FACES AND KICK THEIR AS*ES THOROUGHLY I SAY.
E-erm.... also, CARROT NEEDS TO JOIN THE CREW. She definitely will, I just know it. She must. I won't accept anything else. She is too badass and her interactions with Bropper are really cute ^^ almost like siblings hehe...
Also, glad to see Jinbe here, wrecking the wedding with Luffy ^^
Can you even believe that the only reason why I randomly came here to write this article is because I saw that pat-head moment animated in a post on FB and came here? Good ole nostalgia. I'm glad Toei didn't emit it, they even animated the one where Nami was all coy towards Momo and Zoro with Usopp told her to cut it out. Well done, boys. Still waiting for their reunion tho. Bet next year... or maybe even this one, Zoro's arc will start.
If you wanna check, it's episodes 776 and 768.
7. This blog
Yeah, hello.... I know a lot of you miss this blog and want to see updates, so here ya go... probably not what you would expect, this is supposed to be a ZoNami blog, why is the author-san talking about One Piece in general? Well, guess what, without One Piece, ZoNami wouldn't exist and I still want you guys to enjoy this piece of art, no matter what, even if ZoNami woldn't come true. Just enjoy the ride and learn as many things you can, even if the experience isn't the most pleasant.
As for myself, after the last time I kind of.. broke down, I think I am more mentally stable than before. Like, it's not like the problems aren't there or they just suddenly disappeared, but I have grown to be more confident with my beliefs despite the challenging views of other people (well, mainly parents). Let me ask you something. If you were to choose, would you rather:
1) wait for a bit and choose carefully, then attend a school that you really want to study BUT all people around you don't support your decision AND you don't have the assurance that you will find a job after you finish it
2) just attend a whatevet school that after you finish studying, you will have a stable job BUT you actually don't like the job at all
I think a lot of people faced or will face this problem someday, I am quite curious so if you have some spare time, would you answer that for me please?
